Mike Hines bought a lot of narrow-spool Pflueger baitcasters a couple of years back, I think I saved pics but will have to dig for them. There were Akrons and Supremes and I think a Nobby too. Should have bought one, he was asking modest prices for them. They were of course fisherman altered.
Not sure if any or all of these have been posted here, but here is a narrow spool BROOKLURE made by Bronson (tough), a Shake 1980 Pro SportCast w Box, and 3 SportCasts with the Brooklure.
Scott and Robin,
Two tough little narrow spool reels. That Brooklure is hard to find. Robin, how does that NS Supreme fish? Both very nice reels. Thanks for posting. Keep them coming gang. Keepin' It Fun. Colby
Here's a skillfully done custom tournament reel that just sold at auction. Hopefully an ORCAn reeled it in. For fun, I bet John could turn one out like it in his shop, only better. I can see it now, "The Elder Special" !
Here's a tough little narrow spool you don't see very often, the Au Sable Queen A.Q. 46 made by Brunette Mach Div of Regan Industries Inc. Ferndale, Michigan. They also made the regular size spool A.Q. 4 which is about as hard to find as this narrow spool version.
How about it guys? Anyone got a narrow spool reel not shown? Send in your photos.
Here's a tough narrow spool to find. Connecticut Reel Company Wonder Lakes. To learn more about this reel and company check out the November 2019 issue of The Reel News.
Here are No 2 40-yd narrow spool early Shakespeare Professional, another narrow spool 1573 Pflueger Supreme, a couple of early aluminum narrow spool reels (possibly/probably Malleson) and a narrow spool BF Meek No. 4. And, nice article in the most recent Reel News, Colby!
Those are some great narrow spooled reels. The Jack Welch is super and that’s one of the sweetest modified Shakespeare reels I’ve seen. Do you know when and by whom it was modified and if it has a tournament casting history?
John Savu - The Ultimate! One reel I would truly like to add but I'm not holding out for any chances. One of the all time Greats! What a unique idea and truly part of casting history. Thanks for sharing. Keepin' It Fun! Colby
