Old Reels

Post by Tiderunner »

A friend of mine recently gave me three old reels. One reel is a 7" wooden reel with a faint horseshoe embossed on the reel. I'm guessing that it is close to 100 years old. The other two reels are a RU Pacific made in france and the other is a Langley Spinator 870. If anyone can provide me some info about these reels it would be appreciated. Here is the link to the photos:

The Langley Model 870 Spinator was produced between 1955 and 1962. It is a saltwater spinning reel, is pretty common, and usually sells in the $20-30 range in good condition. Langley Corp. was based in San Diego, CA. Cheers, Alan

Old Reels

The old wooden reel with the Horseshoe is a Meisselbach Good Luck trolling reel. You are correct..The reel is probably between 85 and 107 years old. For mor information on that reel, I strongly recommend Phil Whites book on Meisselbach and Meisselbach-Catucci Fishing Reels.
Good Luck.
