Ted Williams - Angler...Ball Player...Business Man

Post by Rick H »

For lack of other activities, permanent rain, mid-week doldrums and generally nothing better to do...Thought I'd gather up some Sears Ted Williams collectables and...take a snap-shot. Unfortunately, I just realized that I forgot to include the Shakespeare and Everol built Saltwater Reels and some of the Rods, endorsed by Williams. Sorry 'bout that, but I'm confident that the rain...ain't done yet...maybe tomorrow?!

We should do a joint display! I think I have almost all of the Ted Williams Inc. (Miami) reels, including six or so in boxes, lures on cards, etc...plus two catalogs. Never got around to collecting the Sears Ted Williams stuff as it seemed so daunting.

Great display!

Nice collection. I wish some of my favorite players fished as well.

Dr. Todd...I'd love to participate! What would be really neat to see, would be an article "from some talented guy we know" on Ted and his Tackle lines. Maybe "someone" might consider a "Blog post" on the subject..one of these days?

Actually was contacted by the son of the former president of TWI, his dad is in his 90s but still remembers a lot. I've been trying to connect with him, maybe when finals are done...

Lots of misinformation about the early years. Catalogs have helped to sort a few things out, but I am sure this gentleman will help nail down some things!

Will keep you updated...
