PLS CHECK JOE'S BOARD FOR A POSSIBLE PROTOTYPE SPIN CAST

Post by Pinardi »

The pics are on Joe's Board. It's not marked. One collector says he thinks its an Airex. Another says he has an identical reel on a rod and reel combo, and it's marked Life-Time Mfg Co, Spin-Champ, Chicago IL. If you're interested, make an offer.

Here you go, Norm! You need to just copy the part from http to jpg of the address...highlight it, then hit the IMG button above the message window. That will make the picturetrail pic work here!

I don't believe its an Airex

I've got most all of the spin cast reels and catalogs during the time they sold them and not one reel or picture of one comes close to this reel being discussed. I'll stick my neck out a bit and say "not Airex".

MARIBOO LINE OUT OF PONTIAC MICH?

Post by Pinardi »

A third member has contacted me and said the reel is one of the Mariboo line out of Pontiac Mich. Maybe its made by a jobber and sold to several reel makers? Thanks for all the suggestions!

Perhaps the Michigan tackle collectors would be interested in it. Perhaps Terry McBurney?

Thanks, I have one and now I know what it is. I always thought that was a really neat reel because it mounts like a spinning reel (underneath) and to release line you just go backwards a half turn on the crank. Also the drag is underneath, right where your finger is when holding the reel. Thanks again.
