Meek Reels

Post by rayc54 »

I know there is probably books ,I should get to research this topic...but I was wondering,if someone could explain the differents too me, the difference in handle position on the Meek Bluegrass reels.
I recently purchased a Meek #3 reel and got to noticing on Ebay the different handle positions like 12 oclock, 6 oclock, and 9 oclock, (Seam's the 9 oclock is more common)... My question is : Is there away to date these reel by the position of the handle's I know the one I purchased has a 4000+ serial number and has (what I call) a 6 oclock handle position,(being at the bottom of face) but have notice on ebay some #3 with what I call a 9 , 0clock , and then the (12 oclock one's seem to bring more money) Also I would like to know how hard it is to dissassemble these reel's for cleaning or whatever ? And if I can get into a lot of trouble by taking it apart ![at]! :) I have had several reels apart, but after removing the handle and a few screws on this one, it didn't seem to want to let the face plate come off.. I didn't take the clicker or drag screw out.
Thanks too all that may reply to this, and I figure there is probably a web site where I should of found this imformation.. Thank again to all the reel talk people.
