Zebco Collection Closed-Out . . . Thanks Dick!

Post by Len Sawisch »

Well, it finally happened - I need the space for my expanding trout reel collection and I can't get my Daughter and her Spouse to move out so the Zebco's gotta go!

Thats a Zero Hour, 22, 33, 44, & 55 in the back row.
A 33 25th Anniversary, 66 brochure, and extra 44 in front.
Note the 33 box has something spattered on the top and sides

Zero Hour appears un-fished, red spool, number under the box lid, brochure and paper notice.
22 is used and box shows use as well
33 appears un-fished, with two brochures
44 appears un-fished, with two brochures and a warranty card
55 is used and a bit stiff, with brochure and a salt water caution card
66 is just a brochure (it was a hole in my collection)
33 25th Anniversary is used, but nice shape
44 extra is used but seems to work well
The extra spool is for a 33 or 44.

And that's all I got. I would like to sell these as a lot (and for a lot) so I am asking for offers. I might consider selling individual reels, so feel free to offer, but I will hold off a while to see if an offer comes for the whole set. Questions or suggestions - please email or PM me.

NEW INFO

Post by Len Sawisch »

Just talked to that Zebco guy - he really does know his stuff - and here is what I learned:

1. The Standard (Zero Hour) is likely from the second month of production of the red capped reels in the correct box stamped 34990.

2. The 22 is stainless steel

3. The 33 box is for the earlier black body; reel itself is minty but fairly new - late 60s?

4. The 44 box is for the black body version - this minty reel is the rarer chrome version with the cross-checked grip rings.

5. The 55 now runs pretty free with a squirt of magic stuff to loosen the grease.

6. The 33 Silver Anniversary is a tuffer 33.

7. The second 44 is also the chrome version with the cross-checked grip rings, in pretty nice shape.

I am not expecting retail here - looking for fair offers.

And

And I thought donating a boatload of Pflueger reels was a nice gesture . . . it did include a boat, as you may recall.

I'll look around and find a suitable replacement donation - just give me a little time . . .

and while you are waiting, please don't call any more attention to those Zebcos . . . That-Zebco-Guy and I have a little side-bet going and if the reels go too high I owe him a coffee - the hard part will be flying him to Michigan to collect.

Dick Braun won! That Zebco Guy knows his stuff and he was within $35 bucks on what the whole lot would likely sell for on a good day - guess it was a good day!

Met a couple other nice Zebco collectors in the process - good experience all the way around - and to think I would have solid the whole lot on ORCA for a buck and a half if anyone had offered!
