A friend of mine had a collection of old hobo, bum, and tramp records.
The one I recall was a parody of an old hymn. The refrain went like this...
Alleluia I'm a bum! Alleluia bum again!
Alleluia! Give us a handout to revive us again!
Some of you...Deke?... May recall the hymn. Most of you pagans will not.

You know, I used to know all the words to that original song...then the Bum song version came along and replaced everything...try as I might, I can't get around those words to the real lyrics...will report in if i can find that neural network.

Do recall the correct refrain...
Alleluia Thine the glory! Alleluia amen!
Alleluia Thine the glory! revive us again!

I was not brought up with either the hymn or the bum song, but the Rubber Reel Lady taught me that song as we traveled the country buying and selling old sporting collectibles. Bumming was fun.
