Post by amacken »

Hi, i have a Hardy antiqua 3-1/8 mark 2 duplicated reel in good condition, anyone know anything about the reel?

I also have a 5 inch centerpin reel made by lewtham products (england) made from either wood or tufnol with brass fittings.

And a 3 piece split-cane fly rod made by lee of redditch and pershore.

any info appreciated

thanks

Pictures would help if you have a digital camera. Also I think if you have another look you will find that your reel is a Uniqua.

your camera is like my eyes...you need longer arms...back up a bit with good light and all will become clear.

the Uniqua is a nice reel in a very good size - these show up on ebay continuously. I would like to see some better photos, and will likely make you an offer on it if you want to sell it.
The horseshoe latch dates your reel to pre-1933. The foot (ribbed or not) and handle material (ebonite or ivory) will pick which side of 1922 it came from (although the dates for these vary widely with different references). Curious, does it say "By appointment to King George V, etc."

I can't tell you too much on the trotting reel, but might ballpark dates on the rod if I can see photos.

And I've got friends in the UK that might tell us more about both.

single check, ivory handle - you're looking at about 1910 - Dingley could have made that - any stamps inside?

No stamps inside, i also have this small brass reel which is 2-2/8 inches wide and has 10 pierced holes in the foot, there are no markings on this reel, the handle looks bone or ivory, any info?

thanks for your help
