I have an alloy Pape of Newcastle uniqua-style reel that I can date to about 1910 by the construction.
Am I on the right track?

This company retailed sporting goods in Newcastle in the north west of England. They were a high quality company and sold reels made by Slater, Dingley, Malloch and Allcock amongst others. The majority of the alloy reels were Malloch or Dingley made.
