It is typical early model from the 40'. I have seen several 12/0 and larger Fin Nor reels of the same era for sale, but only once a 4/0, the smallest size. It fetched $ 1000 at Lang's in 2005, before commission...
Cosmetically, the reel in is VG condition. Mechanically, it cranks fine, has a strong click and drag. The drag is not very progressive and there is a slight friction when in free spool position, although the lines comes out freely. All could probably be adjusted but I never cared to do so. Reel is complete and comes with rod clamp, accorn nuts etc..
Finally, the name of the yatch engraved on the front plate (Clari Joe) appears the Rybovich built for Tony Accardo (early hit man of Al Capone and late boss of the Chicago outfit) - see http://michaelrybovichandsons.com/history-long-03.html
Although this does bring additional value to the reel, it has some history...
Asking $ 750, shipped.
