Shakespeare yard sale find

Fresh from the junk table at a Florida Keys yard sale. Marked Wm Shakespeare Jr, Kalamazoo Mich on head cap and service reel, No3, 100 yds, quad, and patent applied for on tail plate. Has counter balanced crank and rim drag. Appears to be nickel over brass. I would appreciate one of the Shakespeare guys helping with info and date.
