You're "Fixed" did more than I did, I think. I checked it after posting it, but there was no picture. After you fixed it, there was.

Pinardi, you do not need to start a new topic for every test post you make. Please keep it to one topic.

The code you need looks like this:

Code: Select all

[img]http://pic100.picturetrail.com/VOL770/13216328/24125424/403332178.jpg[/img]
The other mistake you are making is you are disabling bbCode in the checkbox below the post editor. This box has to be unchecked.

Try again but try in a reply to this topic and not a new topic.

Once you are finished, either request deletion or this topic will be moved to a more relevant forum.

Good luck!

Andrew...I'm trying to show him how to do this and will erase the thread when we are done. If you have been changing his post, it's just confusing him to the point he is about to stalk off! please let us finish this.

ah, so that's why the same url works fine for me but not for him! I'm wondering how many others have that same issue?!

Pinardi, I have changed your settings. bbCode is now not disabled by default for you. Just do *exactly* the same as you did the last time and it will show.

You are fine. Look closely. The very first left bracket is missing. [

MANY THANKS GUYS, BUT I GIVE UP!!!

Post by Pinardi »

I can't tell you how much I appreciate your efforts and encouragement. Guess I'm too old for this stuff. I'll try it again next time I post something to the board, but you can erase all of my efforts now. Thank you thank you thank you. Just goes to show how many helpful people there are in this hobby of ours. Norm Pinardi

hey, don't you dare stop now! Don't use the quick reply...use the reply button. Paste that url in and then highlight it and hit the img button and it WILL post! As andrew pointed out, the only thing wrong with the last one is that you slipped and didn't copy the whole thing...you left off the left hand bracket!...and you have doubled up on the IMGs...just copy this part:

http://pic100.picturetrail.com/VOL770/1 ... 332650.jpg

highlight it and hit the IMG button...it's there if you use the normal Post reply and not the quick reply

Take your time. We'll keep this here for you to practice in.

The code you are trying to insert is:
See how there is only one pair of "img" tags around it? That is all you need.

When using reply, just use the button that says "Preview" instead of "Submit". This lets you see your post without actually posting it. You need only press "Submit" when you are happy with the outcome.

You really are *so* close. Sometimes we all need a break though. Try again whenever you are ready.

way to go, Norm...the sad part is that your VERY FIRST attempt would have been fine if I had known about that bbcode box thing! You are now good to go! Thanks for coming in, Andrew!

Yay! I can go to bed happy now! :D

Norm, Quick Reply does not have a preview option. The Full Editor does (on the left).

If you start in Quick Reply, you can press "Full Editor" to change and then you will see "Preview". Alternatively, skip Quick Reply (a good idea if you are posting bbCode) and press the Image button on the left instead.

Well done for keeping on trying.

Whew, thank you John and Andrew for fixing this for Norm. Thank you all for not giving up and remember to please contact us if you run into trouble again.

I'm pretty sure that this has been the problem after checking back at one other user that had problems with posting photos. If other users also cannot post photos, even after highlighting and clicking on the photo address, be sure to check your posting settings. Go to "User Control Panel", click on "Edit Posting Defaults" and click on the "Enable BBCode by default" button "Yes".

"BBCode" is the code in brackets that this board and others use to do things like add highlighted, bold, italic text or add other special inserts like smileys and photos.
