H.L. Leonard 1877 Patent Bi-Metal Salmon Reel For Sale for $18,750. The click is strong and the reel turns freely. The reel is in as-found, uncleaned condition. There are no cracks or chips and the foot is full length. This reel has the Edward Payne July 22, 1890 patent for his sliding drag. The drag is marked "PAT APLD FOR" so it was made about this time period. The reel is 4 inches in diameter and comes in it's "E. vom Hofe" marked leather case. This is arguably the most sought after of all the early classic salmon reels. See photos for condition.
