Daylight Savings (?) Time begins Sunday!

Post by RAM »

Notion: DST has nothing to do with saving time. It is, and always has been, the result of a conspiratorial alliance between congressmen, golfers, and fishermen. Not one second has ever been saved-not one! Why do we allow this farce to be perpetuated? Why should we have to reset fifteen clocks and watches twice annually? Why should we have to get up cold spring mornings before sunrise? Why should we have to wait until ten o'clock at night on the Fourth of July to watch fireworks? Real golfers just lie to the boss about being sick and go play golf when the notion strikes them. Real fishermen do the same thing. The fish don't know or care what time your clock says! Rise up against this madness!

In our state, Indiana, It was put to the voters for several years and Always voted down, so the govener just abused his power and invoked his wish to implement it. What Democracy we have.

What are we gonna do with all that daylight we're saving? Has it got a cash value? Maybe Al Gore can use it for global warming.

Hey Bob. Do you want me to copy this rant as a word document so we can post it again next year? It will save you some time.

DST or ST year round :?: What difference does it make  All I know is the older I get :Bawl: the tougher change gets

Geeze et al: I prefer to restate my rant each year. Obviously only Midway Tommy bought my idea of leaving the clocks at DST all year. All that time saved, no clock changing. Common sense doesn't stand a chance! Who knows what the powers-that-be will come up with next?

Hello Midway Tommy,

You sound most upset. If you are going to turn off your clocks and sleep in may I suggest a change of name in retirement to Midday Tommy. At least with mornings out of the way you'll only have to worry about the P.M.

I don't like getting up earlier either . I'd rather stay up an hour more ...as I'm already up.

Forty years ago our State was looked upon as the Premier's Country property . People wanted daylight saving and it was heard that because the SUN shone out of the Premier's rear end he was not not getting out of bed an hour early for anyone. hence no daylight saving. We have since had it and then stopped it . The majority vote said no .

I've got the time ...we're 10-15 hours ahead of you ..do you want to know the future ?

I refuse to cooperate with this garbage. I stopped setting my clocks ahead many years ago. All who know me have become accustomed to me being a hour late in the Summer, they have learned to live with me because they know how punctual I am in the winter.

In my opinion, DST is simply job security for all the time keepers of the country.
