Mike Hines bought a lot of narrow-spool Pflueger baitcasters a couple of years back, I think I saved pics but will have to dig for them. There were Akrons and Supremes and I think a Nobby too. Should have bought one, he was asking modest prices for them. They were of course fisherman altered.

Not sure if any or all of these have been posted here, but here is a narrow spool BROOKLURE made by Bronson (tough), a Shake 1980 Pro SportCast w Box, and 3 SportCasts with the Brooklure.

It's a fun little reel to fish with. A few years ago I caught a 38 inch pike on it. The cub handle actually works very well.

Here's a skillfully done custom tournament reel that just sold at auction. Hopefully an ORCAn reeled it in. For fun, I bet John could turn one out like it in his shop, only better. I can see it now, "The Elder Special" ! :-D

I've not much of an Ocean City fan but that 1950N could sit on my shelf any day! Nice looking reel!

Here's a tough little narrow spool you don't see very often, the Au Sable Queen A.Q. 46 made by Brunette Mach Div of Regan Industries Inc. Ferndale, Michigan. They also made the regular size spool A.Q. 4 which is about as hard to find as this narrow spool version.

How about it guys? Anyone got a narrow spool reel not shown? Send in your photos.

I didn't want to hijack this thread with my attempt at a narrow spool reel, so posted separately, but think it fits the subject matter!

Bryce,

Those are some great narrow spooled reels. The Jack Welch is super and that’s one of the sweetest modified Shakespeare reels I’ve seen. Do you know when and by whom it was modified and if it has a tournament casting history?
