Stu Lawson Survivor Sale

Post by john elder »

I'm helping Lois Lawson dispose of the remaining parts of Stu's collection. Reels are gone, but he had a large amount of valuable paper, mostly Pflueger-related as you might imagine. In particular, there are 35 original catalogs dating from around 1900 to 1980 plus another 13 nice copies of others, including 1897-98. We would like to sell the whole group as a lot if possible. If not, i'll start parting them out. Please contact me if interested.

thanks, Dave, I sent you a PM, but I'll post for all to see here. After consulting with Bad Bob re values, we figure that the 35 original catalogs would have a full-blown retail value around $3500. We are asking $2500 for the lot, including all the copies at no charge. Yes, it's a Bogdan's worth of greenbacks, but an incredible archive that's pretty hard to put together at this time...and it's for a good cause...all the accolades that Stu always heaped on his Sweet Young Thing are well-deserved. If granted permission from the Lawson estate, this seems like an incredible opportunity to add an abundance of information (copies of course) to the ORCA library.
This much historical data isn't available very often for posterities sake.

Yes, it would truly be a wonderful gift if a member bought this collection for a reasonable value, then donated the collection or copies thereof to ORCA, taking the tax deduction...and at the same time, helping the widow of an honored former member.

We realize that paper isn't what it used to be and so would be happy to entertain offers for this collection that the collector deems fair.
