BAD NEWS???

Post by SWIM JIG »

:(   :?:  People this just came in my Farm and DAIRY newspaper ( Wasington DC ? there is now a petition to list the northern snakehead fish or( Frankenfish ) as endangered giving it full protection under the Endangered Species Act, was filed Dec.30.With the U.S.Fish and Wildlife Service.) the petition filed by a bipartisan group of elected county officials from 13 western states identifies some 67 million acres of mostly privet land in 11 eastern states and the District of Columbia to be designated as critacal habitat for the endangered fish. There is more! however these are nast land and water very dangerous things, they have been known to eat small dogs in Mayrland, eat wild ducklings and so on. Write your Fed lesgislators and ask that these invadors NOT BE PROTECTED! Roger, can you tell us whom we need to help get this out of and off the list? These things may well spoil the sport fishing in our USA . Col. Milton lorens aka SWIM JIG in 35 degree heat wave of OHIO

Our Tax money at work! Between the time spent to have at least a dozen meetings between a bunch of legislators, lawyer and filing fees, Dinners, drinks, cab fares, hotel rooms etc.,what did that cost us? Then I can see the members of the house and senate discussing this item of importance for at least a week. All over a problem of a destructive fish that they have already ask anglers to kill on sight. I really don't consider this a joke. I consider it a waste of money!
Read this article. Bass Pro Shops turned them into a tournament!

Eat 'um

Post by Brian F. »

I still think people should try eating them. Once they find out they make tasty meals, they'll be gone in a flash. Catch a few and take them to your nearest Chinese restaurant and have them make it 'sweet sour' style or steamed with green onions and hot peanut oil. "winnah!" (translated - delicious)!

From what I hear, they can be cheap pets and are excellent watch-fish.

:( :?   :!: :?: You ahve heard of the finger lakes in NEW YORK? well when they get into the are it will be known as FIGERLESS lakes area, And Brian If the taste GOOD should our OHIO game Wardens foward them to you? (I have been told that there are several differnt ones and some can inflict a very dangerous bite that paralizes the nervious system! I have read that one was caught and checked and it had a small dog well digested, that was in the state of Maryland. as there is no known antidote for the bite we best leave this thing alone, before someone hets hurt, OHIO we can do as we want with them thus they will be history if I catch one! I would like to know something about the Society. Is it really what it says or is it a spoof as the legislation is? You guys are worrying about one fish while my state is over run with things that don't belong here. Brazalian Pepper, Malaluka trees, cat-tails and many other type of plants have taken hold in the Everglades thus choking out native plants. About any kind of tropical fish you can name can be found in our water ways, lakes and streams. But our biggest threat is PEOPLE. Here is the deal! We here in Florida will take all your Snakeheads as long as you include one acre of land with each fish. We are running out of room!
