The reel appears to be made of German silver and is 3.5" in diameter. I have put a red arrow in the second picture, which points to the spool release. The large arm on the back adjusts the click. The click is quite novel in that it employs two springs to engage/disengage the pawl. The click gear is of blued steel. When the lever is set fully (as pictured), the reel seems to favors right-hand wind and when the lever is set in the middle the reel seems to favors left-hand wind. When set to the opposite side the click is off.
The knob appears to be Bakelite and has been nicely turned. The foot is held to the frame with 6 rivets. The frame has 15 large weight-reducing holes and the spool utilizes a weight saving design as well.
The custom, lined, two-piece (top and bottom) case is as unique as the reel and is further testament to the makers prowess. The bottom of the case is sloped such that the reel must be inserted as pictured in order for the top to fully seat, otherwise the knob will hit the top of the case and keep the top from seating all the way. The line, although quite old, is nice and supple.
A very unique design, excellent craftsmanship and quite likely one-of-a-kind.
Will trade up/down/even for something equally intriguing for my paraphernalia collection.
Thanks for looking.
