When I saw this I thought of Michael Hackney, the Eclectic Guy who posts here from time to time. The man who made this is one of his kinsmen, at least in spirit.

Robyn, that brings back some fond memories. The Franklin Institute has a similar automaton (googlable) that was on display when I was a kid. My brother and I would gape, slack-jawed, as the little guy went to work.

Years later, I commissioned a machine to be made in my own image. It was built in the back of a local restaurant. Of course, that was before I started wearing bifocals.
