FS: Home-built old school bass & Muskie surface baits

Post by SteveO »

In homage to the great old muskie, pike, and bass baits of the past I just wanted to show off my latest creations. The RAT is a jointed basswood-bodied behemoth nearly 14 inches long, and the mouse is...well, the size of a common house mouse. Hope you enjoy 'em. The fish sure do! ;) They look alive in the water.
I couldn't resist putting my trusty LureCast in the photo too...just seemed to fit the vintage motif!
The mouse is $29.99 and the jointed rat is $49.99 Postage in the U.S. is $2.75 for either. Actually, the nose & whiskers aren't normally used as I couldn't vouch for their durability against toothy predators...I just did it as a lark, but if someone REALLY wanted them installed (for collectors purposes or such) I'd be willing to do it. The standard RAT is the one pictured with the plaid hat...and is QUITE durable, as is the mouse.
Thanks for looking,

Cheers

Steve, those are really neat! A friend of mine, ward coppersmith swears by those big rat lures and has made several...not as pretty as yours, but drives bass crazy!

Thanks John,
I'd like to see your friends rat baits. They're really fun to use and my original ones didn't have this amount of detail but caught fish just fine. I only did these out of requests from others, but I like experimenting with different designs, and it gives me a break from searching for dropped reel screws while I wait out this Chicago weather...

But do you really throw Muskie baits with that Langley narrow spool?

(Very cool looking baits!)

P.S.

I will take a mouse to fish with. Do you want cash or trade for a reel?

Muskie baits with the Langley, no, but the mouse is perfect with it.

If you're really interested in the mouse I'd prefer cash at this point...wait a sec...what sort of reel? :)

Nice lures, Steve! You do good work and I bet those really are fish-foolers. Heck, they'd probably fool a cat, too!
