President Elder's Reel News Message

Post by Midway Tommy D »

Nice wheels John! :cool Feel like sharing its color so that any of us visiting the "Left Coast" will be able to recognize you if we see you driving down the street?

I had a blue '60 that I sold around 20 years ago. It was fun watching heads turn while driving it around. Problem was, I always worried about getting it dinged or scratched, so I would never park it and go in anywhere. Finally sold it because it was just sitting in the garage way too much and taking up space. Sure did free up a lot of dollars for fishing trips and additional tackle, and now old reels.

I sure looked younger & thinner back then. :( Probably wouldn't be able to get in and out of it nowadays.

SWEET! Yes, i know what you mean about parking at the grocery store. My biggest concern about the reno was turning her into a Trailer Queen. I will endeavor not to let that happen!

Oh...forgot that page is in black and white...my '61 is, indeed, white w/red interior:

Just a few of you "Tycoons" belong to The Vett/Reel Collectors Club. Us poor folks only dream of such vehicles. This is probably the closest I'll ever come to owning one. If I pawned every rod and reel I own, I probably could not come up with a down payment. Always figured I was too tall to fit in one anyway.

Seems no one can recognize, nor are they guessing, John. So, you're going to have to give it up on the yellow 'vette family :?:

That be our own Robyn Summerlin and his boys, in kinder, gentler times.

Those short flat cars are not too "PRACTICAL" around here this time of year. My Subaru Forester sits in the drive way a few minutes ago. Yes that is 30 inches of snow!

The China-men are going to get us one way or another.

Bill,
Ice fishing looks like it could be pretty good & you shouldn't have to worry about any bird's nests.

Yo Deke! Couldn't help thinking about your 'vette seeing those vintage cars down in the bottom of the big sinkhole in KY. Not surprised at the sinkhole collapse as it is in a classic karst region. Such happens frequently in that region. But that it was in the dead cener of the museum is quite amazing, and not just as coincidence. I would have figured there was exploratory drilling for such a feature prior to constructing the facility that would likely have revealed a void. Maybe they didn't drill quite deep enough. How they plan to get those rascals out is difficult to imagine. Just getting heavy equipment near enough to do it will be a major problem. I suggest you bid on one or more of these cars now. Likely to get a good deal!

When you guys were showing all of your classics, I forgot I had this sweet little '57 parked in my basement.
Maybe I need to fire it up and take it down to Bowling Green to replace one that fell into the "Black Hole"? We boys all got our toys, some of us just ain't rich enough to buy the "big boy's toys"!

Not bad Elder. Does it run as good as it looks?

And did you keep the original engine and running gear?

In any event, she is a keeper. You done good.
