I am not a wood worker. I have made 3 primitive Rod holders to use in my garage. Total cost about 12. apiece. This one will hold 12 Fly rods. Sturdier than the ones you buy for 35. or more. I made one like this for casting rods by cutting with a scroll saw on the outside of the pine disks. Bought the pine disks for about 8. for two at Lowes and a 1" dowel rod for about 4.00. About an hours labor and it's nap time again. None of them have fallen over yet.
I didn't know those were available. It looks like a neat project. You could even use a third one near the bottom and the swivel from a cheap plastic chair so that it would turn.
I'm not pressing my luck Bob. Wouldn't try to keep anything on the main floor. Hear enough about stuff in the garage such as why does my van have to sit out in the snow and cold when we have this big ---- garage? (Loaded with a boat, I think three bikes and many more toys.) Don, I have seen the ones supposed to swivel, many aren't stable. I'm sure I have too many rods as well as reels.
That's a great design that keeps it simple. I especially like the idea of cutting access lanes in the top circles to hold bait casting rod and reel combinations.
Unfortunately, Mother Nature had a few different cold weather projects for me today: plowing 6" of snow off an 800' driveway with the old Massey Ferguson and bringing in a face cord of firewood for the woodburner. I may have to make my rod holder a Spring time project.
We were supposed to get more snow today too. Didn't happen yet. Supposed to be way below zero in a couple of days. Spring will come eventually. (I think)
Here are a couple of pics of the two I made previously. The one that has cutouts, I strung a piece of fishing line around the outside edgeg around push pins to keep anything from falling.
I told my wife what your comment was, don't think it created any slack with her. Forecasting 17 below tonight, hope rods and reels aren't damaged by extreme cold!
