More evidence soccer is a perverse sport. No team having lost two games, tied one, and won only a single game against one of the world's poorest countries should be in the final sixteen of a world championship. Weird sport!

The good news is that a soccer game doesn't run 4 1/2 hours with 3 of them devoted to commercials. The sport is catching on here, now that kids realize that playing leaves their hands free for texting.

Bad Bob:

First, congratulations to your Vandy Commodores for winning the college baseball title. Job well done.

As with our past discussions regarding dogs and cats, there is once again room for a difference of opinion in the area of sports. While I dearly love American football (49ers, Seahawks, Packers, etc.), the other football...soccer, is also a great game, and is followed and loved by countless fans throughout the world. And I'm one of them.

Your old pal, Jim

PS
I still love Pflueger stuff. American made of course!

Suggested rules change. Nothing complicated here. Just common sense. Have 64 countries that have qualified for entry. There will be four World Region series: Asia- Oceania, Europe, Africa, North-Central-South America. No ties- play for several days if necessary for a team to score (sudden death, of course). Lose and you are out. Sixteen winners are in the championship series. No ties, only winners. Losers go home. Two teams play for championship. Sound familiar?
BB

PS: Jim, you are too polite. I usually get some really serious pot shots on drivel like this. Thanks for the cheers for the Commodores!

And eat before the game to avoid getting hungry and trying to eat an opponent.

With no recess or delays & allow roster expansion to 243 per team to avoid total exhaustion.
Thanks for the cheers for the Commodores!
They represented TN well and were also well received here in the "Big O". Seems like all the Miller's in the S & E are related to you BB. :P How about this brave soul? http://m.omaha.com/sports/cws/cws-notes ... l?mode=jqm

Well USA is doing very good, sad they did not win over Germany.

But did you see Denmark?
:bash: they were not there, we are just playing so poor.
Last time Denmark played good was in 1992 were we won the European Champions ship.

Best

Soccer

There is an excellent article on this subject in today's Grantland section of ESPN, titled Stop Making Sense, written by Brian Phillips. Thursday July 3, 2014.

Enjoy
