Tom:
Many thanks for the well wishes! I spent Canada Day :canada cleaning up a neat old Hendryx reel...

I got the reel cleaning itch ever since I got my ORCA reel cleaning bible. I know it is a sin to take off the patina on these old brass reels but they look so nice when cleaned and lightly polished. Even a humble Hendryx reel looks great in this condition.

Nice cleanups Paul! I agree, my eyes and mind get very little enjoyment out of looking at cruddy/dirty specimens. Your time was well spent, they look very nice!

Tom just said the magic word: ENJOYMENT. Hopefully, it's why we do this. If you really "enjoy" seeing them cleaned, then clean 'em. A hundred years after you're dead, they'll have a nice patina again anyway.
