Who Says That Reel Collecting And Monks Don't Mix?

Post by Jonathan P. Kring »

I didn't want to continue this thread on cleaning and restoration for fear I might be told I digress. Here we see a picture of Brother John, reading from his copy of "Cleaning Restoring And Repairing Antique Fishing Reels" while contemplating a repair. Brother Tommy is close by with a recent catch, remembering he can eat fish, but not chocolate to which he is alergic. ( Any similarities of names to actual people are strictly coincidental)
Actually at the Abbey where I visited in Ky., the monks support themselves by making fruit cakes, cheese and fudge which is very good but does contain chocolate.

Would that be the famed Abbey of Imbrie?

Gethesemani Abbey at Frakes or Trappist, Ky. Bardstown area. Great place to spend a solitary week-end.

 Well done, Dean Jon :cool
Great place to spend a solitary week-end.
Hopefully, though, not in lieu of the Dog House. :P

Give some credit to the (alleged) should-be patron saint of anglers, who probably shewyth a lot of those guys how to fish.

Quite interesting Steve, whether factual or not, but I'm leaning toward (new word I just made up)> believability.

Right back at you Jon, and to everyone else out there, too!

Me, too, Tom. Dame Juliana found it easy to teach, because "Monk...he see; monk...he do."
Here's how folks fished before the book was published:
