Shakspeare info

Post by Tony Malatesta »

 Hi guys! Need some info from you Shakspeare experts. I recently bought a reel because it was unusual but i'm wondering if this reel is for real or did i get taken for a ride? And if its the reel deal , is it rare or quite common? Shakespeare Favorite 1733 with 2 oiling ports but doesn,t use caps as far as i can see. No line guide for retrieving(how does this work).
The base resembles something off of a Hendryx. It looks to be in perfect condition and meant to be used as is. Any help would be appreciated. Canadian

Tony,
What you have is a cheaper line of reel that Shakespeare carried in their catalogues from 1931 to 1939. In 1938 it was listed at $1.20 while the Marhoff was $13.00. As for winding the line back onto the spool on an orderly faction, You need a thumb. Most people have two and they are opposing just for that reason. The one on your right hand is for picking your nose and the one on the left is a level winding device. Load it up with 18 lb Wexford and have fun.
