Can anyone direct me to a parts diagram for my Abu ? I just took it out of storage after many years. I think you guys must have inspired me. I cleaned her up, re-assembled, but I can't tighten the drag enough to get real traction on the spool before the star hits the bearing cap.
So I'm assuming I'm missing something in the stack or could the drag washers be shot ? Checked a few sights for diagrams but they don't go back far enough. Bought this reel used in '75 and never really used it. Thanks to all !

Is your Ambassadeur 5000 a 3 or 4 screw model? In any case whether it is a 3 or 4 screw model I would say you are missing one or more spacers or the cupped spring D-Washer. Email me at and I can email you a schematic. It may not be the exact one for your reel but it will be good enough to show you what is missing. Randy Heller
