I am new to the board and look forward to an education.
I have a couple hundred pieces and a few are very worthy. My favorites are probably old raised pillar trout reels and BIG offshore pieces. My collection has several old Fin Nor's, Vom Hofe, Hendrix. The majority are old used Ohio type reels though. Some are NIB Mitchell, DAM, Penn and my most prized are 2 Chas. Fasoldt original level winds from mid 1800's.
I might add that I own a full service custom tackle center that is a warranty service facilty. I have boxes of old stuff hanging around. Well, that is my introduction and hope for a warm welcome aboard.
Sincerely;
Dean-o

Welcome aboard
Welcome aboard Dean-o. We can always use another guy that has some extra parts lying around (laying around? lying?) heck, I don't know. I never griduated 6th grade. I'm sure our resident intellectual will be here shortly to correct me. Where are you when I need you Mr. Elder?

Dean-o: Welcome to ORCA. Your sure to be blessed by all the good guys that frequent this site, especially if you have a lot of old parts. How about old Bronson Kit info. Would you have any paperwork showing schematics of old parts that fill these kits.
Well, anyway good to have you as a fellow member. Being a Tennessee Volunteer, am just checking to see if you need a copy of Rocky Top. Ive got a CD with 4 different versions. Would trade for Meisselbach drop down hardware - in good shape.

Dean-o, welcome! There are many knowledgeable folks in this organization. I have been collecting 20+ years, and have been a member of numerous tackle collecting clubs. But the senior members here outstrip all of the others in their knowledge, scholarship, and willingness to help new users. I think you will find membership here, and this message board, to be very valuable tools in helping your collection, and knowledge, grow.
Welcome, Jeff

Dean-O,
I will extend the Welcome mat as well. Don't be suprised if you learn something here and we will more than likely lean on you also for ideas and information. And John, That wasn't Joe's Sixth Grade Da-Plo-Ma! That was his fathers! Joe spent 5 years in the sixth so he wouldn't catch his dad who was in the seventh. He spent more time in grade school then he did in the Army and he re-enlisted four times.

Welcome!
Glad to have you aboard Dean-o! Someday you'll have to tell me the story on those Fasoldt reels and how they managed to escape from here (upstate NY)to sunny Florida!

Well, thank you all and, here I thought that I was the only one with this sick addiction.
Jim S. ~ The Fasoldt's were previously aquired in Albany by a gentleman that I recently met. He owned a scrap yard and had possesion of them for over 50 years before me. These two reels are truley American treasures.
Okay, now I'm ready to play!

Dean-O,
Welcome to the board. As far as the sick-o addiction goes, my doctor prescribed 2 MIB per day until fever is reduced. That was 20+ years ago and my HMO is considering dropping my converage! Others won't cover a pre-existing condition! I guess I'll then have to go to Len's or Milt's doctor. I hear he takes reels for services rendered... On a serious note another REEL mind wouldn't hurt. Tight lines.

You are in deep water now...
I recall a few years back I stumbled on ORCA too
... thinking I was doing something new collecting reels. I have to warn you you have fallen in with a deeply sick bunch...
A few short years later I find myself giving seminars and judging competition at Nationals, printing REEL calendars, traveling to strange places for reels, and dodging offers of running for office in the organization to (horrors) helping host a National... GADS! (looks much worse in print...)
Several visitors to my home have asked after viewing the reels on display "You ARE one sick pup aren't you?"
Well I guess so, but at least here I am in good company...
Yes Sir... you have gotten into REEL deep water here... and you will find it only gets deeper.
Welcome to the club
