Apparently, there are no markings on this reel anywhere! Looks of good enough quality to make that a surprise...at least to me!

I haven't seen this before now. I'm surprised there's no markings. It may have had a decal with the maker's name that got removed at one time.

The crank shape and the way the gear case molded in the head cap remind me of a Canadian maker. Name escpapes me at the moment. But since Paul hasnt chimed in as of yet Im probably WAY off.

Re: Anyone know about this combo reel?
There is a similar but different unknown combo shown in Karl White's Volume 2, pg 291. The reel on his has the mark Criss Cross. But it looks different. I have a rod handle like that but there is no integrated reel. The metal rod in mine is marked True Temper, so maybe that is it. The styling of the reel sideplate molded in aluminium or other base metal reminds me of Lawson, Montreal, per Scott's suggestion but somehow I don't think that is it.

Re: Anyone know about this combo reel?
I located the same reel on eBay's sold listings, that is pictured in John's post. It has the identical cork bark pattern on the rod handle. The new owner as changed the reel handle however, as the original one had a broken grasp. Hopefully the pics in the link below of the handle, tail side, spool, and levelwind mechanism will spark an idea for one of us, as to the maker. Also, maybe someone can decipher what's left of the rod's decal, because I've gone cross-eyed trying to figure the darn thing out.

Waltco made those Nylon reels. Never heard of a metal reel from them.

Waltco also made (or at least marketed) plated fishing rods - I believe they sold stub-casters after WWII

Re: Anyone know about this combo reel?

Recently witnessed this reel sell on ebay, listed as a Bronson (?) Waltco reel. This is not a Bronson reel it was manufactured by the Lawrence Tackle Company. In the second photo you can see the reel is stamped WALTCO on the foot. The third photo shows the same reel stamped Lawrence. So it can now be said Waltco did sell metal baitcasting reels which were produced by Lawrence Tackle Company, not to say there were not other unknown suppliers. Lawrence was known to make reels highly similar to those of other manufacturers. This reel is very similar to the Bronson 2475 Fleetwing.
