Yes, hard to believe but true. Some of us were napping when this reel came up, and it actually sold for $10. And it was about 7/9 condition. I tried to get a bid in at the last second, but auctioneer missed me. Fun auction. Didn't have the quality of the Thoms auction of a couple years ago, but I was reminded of that auction and the quantity was impressive. Milt, thanks for posting this one (hey, I didn't see you there?) , I came back with some nice stuff ( like a Pflueger Redifor that gleams!).
I'm not going to Houston, but everybody have a great time!
USA I certainly messed up on this one! I got involved in moving the boat, oh yes just a nice 5 hr ride? generaly all it takes and I would have been on my way to the auction! Ok the lake had 4-6 rollers thats Ideal to run in however just off Sandusky that wind came up! 28 to 41 knots out of the north east , we headed for Sandusky city dock only 8 miles to go! HUMF! fooy! didnt quite make it and those lovly 4footers on top of thos 8 footers were a long hard drop to the botem of the swell, When we made the Sandusky dock none of us had thought to leave a car at that dock, why bother as we were only going to Vermillion anothe 16 miles, might as well been a 116 miles, and the cell phone? yup it was on the shops desk! At least those waves were only 3-4ft at the dock so we went after a bit of breakfast, went back and took on 140 gal to get some weight in the boat, never have any( fat) friends when you need them for balast, and off to Vermmilion and things got a bit nasty as we crossed the Huron River Chanel, and the next 14 miles was wild as the Lake gets Shallow and very chopy! When we made the Vermillion river at 10:30 am we were a mess! at our age bones dont give much they just get very sore! Today was spent with asprin and (bens gay) no we wernt in any trouble as that 32 ft fishing boat will take it, its just us OLD Fogys or GEASERS bones and body wont take it! When you come off a 6-8 footer its like falling of a house roof that high. Mike I am glad you got that Redifor that was worth the Trip? I wanted the bobers and some of those reels for parts, oh well cant be several places all at once! Now I am going to go soak in a hot tub of Water as next week its FISHING TIME! the Walleys are IN! Milt-
Be careful about those "rough seas and boisterous weather"--remember the Edmund Fitzgerald! We want you to be around for next year's convention.

jester yay-banana cool-thumb USA Yes Roybn, I remeber her like it was yesterday, and that happened On Lake Supiror he came down hard on a out croping ledge and broke in half! I remeber the Carl bradly, a school mates dad was lost on that boat when she went down, Raised on the Lake ERIE PORT of Lorain , we saw a lot of ORE and Coal trafic and a lot of folks in the area lived and worked on those flat bottomed lake cariers, average lenght was 535 ft Now they are 1000 ft, nothing much smaller than 650 ft, these Lakes are very dangerous and the end of the season Nov thru dec is the worst! Lake Huron took its tole in the 60s several went down that nov day. Erie is shallow and kicks up in a hurry, and the waves are short chop no long rollers like deeper lakes. As for now that wind can swing around very fast from west to east and that was what got us, that miserable cross chop! When We fish we generaly run with the waves on the stern as that gives us about a 3-5 knot troling speed that save on fuel! This sat was a cross chop kind of like driving around pot holes on the road only these pot holes dont give a warning!>? Today its a north by west wind at 9knots and 3-6 footers, ideal troling weather a lot went out, us? we are TOO SORE, friday we will get out again! You enjoy the Nats, see you next year.
