Hardy WIDE Uniqua, 3 3/4", duplicated check, ribbed foot, optional rim regulator, "TW" initials = Thomas Wilkinson who worked at Hardy 1934-1950.
The lot includes a heavy duty 6" Neroda Flybox with some flies (missing a chunk in the end that I think might be restorable using the hard rubber grind/epoxy method in the ORCA Reel Restoration Guide (and some ingenuity). The Neroda flybox latch is in need of replacement, The Neroda flybox will probably look excellent when polished. I have not cleaned anything as of yet. The Hardy logo on the front of the Neroda flybox is crisp.
The salmon fly reel has cosmetic wear from maybe 80 years of use and needs minor repairs, as follows:
- 2 screws on the latch are damaged substitutes and ought to be replaced
- clicker gear needs to be re-pinned to the spool with a small (brass) pin
- ebonite grasp is a bit loose so you might want to straighten and re-peen the pin.
There are 3 more fly boxes included and 2 of those have some home made flies that look to be about 50 years old but the flies themselves probably have no value. The little Perrine box is VG+ condition.
I am looking for USD$350 or CAN$510 shipped with tracking (lower 48/Canada).
Alternatively I am happy to trade the lot for a nice old ball handle reel or minor Kentucky reel or Talbot or whatever seems interesting.
