Bronson Reel Factory info

Post by wrong99 »

Do any of you Michigan residents (or anyone else, for that matter) know if the old Bronson Reel Co. factory is still standing? The information (would kill for a photo!) will be posted in the History section of our Bronson website. Thanks.

Mark,
I have a feeling this is about as current (Oct 2013) and good as it's gonna get:

Before you take a flight into Bronson to verify, though, you may want to send Sawisch :jester on a "Road Trip" as I think,
according to this: it no longer exists.

Exactly what I was hoping for. Thanks a bunch, Tommy. Pretty sad-looking. Three generations of families made their living there.

For a photo as it looked in the 1920's or 30s, check my Meisselbach book on page 133. That photo was provided to me as a scan from a book on Bronson City history by the Bronson Library. I sent it on to the publisher of my book, and don't have a copy.

Hey Mark,
My brother, Ed, made a pilgrimage to the old factory site in Bronson Michigan two years ago and met a guy that used to work there. This gentleman knew a way into the factory and gave him a guided tour. He described what was performed in each location. My Bro is a shutter bug and took a bunch of photos. For Christmas I receive a packet of these photographs along with a couple of bricks, a sign that reads "SAFETY GLASSES REQUIRE IN THIS AREA", a bag full of insulation, and a 75lb weight that was used to keep the lathe pulley belts tight all from the Bronson factory. The buildings were in terrible condition as the photos will show. I will digitize them and get them to you. Are you going to attend the convention is the Smokeys? I can bring you prints if you would like.

Kenzo,
Won't be able to make the convention, but would certainly love seeing some of the photos if possible. Thanks a million.

Please bring the pictures to Buckberry. They will be fun for the Wine and Reels gathering.
Thanks, Betty
