IDEAL FLY REEL - HELP!

Post by Jack S »

A neat little reel, this one measures 2 1/4 inches in diameter and is a heavy nickel plating over brass. It is marked "IDEAL" on the tailplate frame and has an unusual square click spring. I'm thinking Carlton/Rochester as its maker, but for some reason a nickel plated reel doesn't seem to go with my idea of a Carlton reel.

Am I suffering from senior delusions again, or is it a Carlton? Any help would be appreciated!

Carlton, Jack.

I'm assuming that knob has a washer under the rivet, and that the knob is black.

The knob is black and has what appears to be a washer between it and the headplate. Thanks Phil!

I used to have a Carlton Gem that was similar to this except it was a side mount. It was nickel plated brass.
