Interesting Late Model Pflueger Buckeye

Post by Bill Muth »

I'm not in the same town as my old Reel News collection today, so thought I would post this interesting find. I have seen non Ky-style Buckeyes before, but not quite like this one, with the later black and silver bearing caps, Phillips head screws in the foot, and back plate riveted pillar connections. When disassembled, the primary gear is held in place only the reel handle retaining screw, it does not sit on a post. Any ideas when this one would have been produced? I assume the wooden handle grasp is a replacement.

Busy weekend Bill. Back later with more accurate info. Need to check my old Buckeye column so I don't say something dumb. Have one of those rascals myself. Wooden grasp is a replacement. Made late 30s.

Bill-The correct crank and knob should be dual ivoroid knobs. The end caps are also replacements. They should be non-jeweled. The model was sold through the 1930s. Yours is definitely post-1935. Take care!
