I have a Mitchell 300 spool from the late 60's or early 70's that was made to take a Trilene line cassette. The spool was made in France; the cassette by Berkley. (I presume in the USA.) My dad got it when he was selling tackle for a wholesale distributer. I don’t remember ever seeing the spool in stores (I may have seen the line cassettes), so it could have been on of a small run that he was given to field test. Also, they may have been sold in the US but not Canada. Does anyone have/remember these?
The spool works well enough but one problem was that the line was not fastened to the spool. I found that out when I ran all my line out behind out behind the boat to let it untwist. Unfortunately it really was ALL the line. Another almost-good idea.
