Eric Jeska, great job on the Marhoff story. Wonderful history in this great article. Certainly one of the most influential people in fishing tackle history. Thanks for taking the time to share with all of us. Colby

Thank you Colby for the kind review! I enjoy collecting reels but love researching the history. Finding little pieces of the puzzle that help fill in the story is a lot of the fun. So is meeting new friends that enjoy the same. I hope my story honors Mr. Marhoff appropriately.

Best article I've read in a long time! Great job Eric!
I love to get old reels, work on them until they run as smooth as silk and the take them fishing using pre-1960 plugs, mostly surface fishing for Largemouths after dark.

Thank you everyone for the kind reviews. I just got my copy of Reel News yesterday, and Richard Lodge did a great job laying it out and editing. He even took a different angle with the cover photo than I had thought of.... a Shakespeare Style C, since those are no doubt the first fishing reels that Walter Marhoff made.
