Found, Old Abu 1750A New condition

Post by JB »

Hello,

I have an old Abu Garcia, model 1750A, baitcasting reel.
2" wide, 2 1/4" diameter, Abu Sweden stamped on the side.
Serial # 730201, stamped on the bottom of the reel foot.
It's red in color, Ex+ condition. Without a box but, never used.
I think it was bought about 1965-66, sometime in the mid 60's.
Actually it's my dad's. -- It was bought as a gift and he doesn't fish.
How much is this reel worth as a collectable reel :?:
It's not mint but, is near mint and unused.
Loaned my camera out and don't have anyway to post pictures...
Please, help me determine the current value of this reel.
Any comments would be appreciated.

Ebay can be a fickle market , but..

This reel in nice shape appears to go for about $150 or so on Ebay.

:) 8) :!: :?:  cool-thumb USA Jeff, E-Bays flea market is just a guide line, the 1750 and 1750A were prolem reels, ie. they have some weak perts in them and almost no existant in like new condition to find. A more realistic price would be Lawsons 3rd edition page 20, a 1750a new in the box ie. never had line on it or used list $125.00 the rest that have been used or scratched or shop worn list for and from $45.00 to $95.00and thats for the take apart modle. granted if you list on the flea market anything can happen and generaly does, however a serious colector like most ORCANs want as near to new as posible. without a pic or several views and they need to be clear pics, its a pig in the poke reel, its only worth what someone is willing to pay, They are not that hard to find. We also have a site in ORCA you can list the reel however you will need pics, best you get your camera back. Your ohio Conection on Lake Erie Col. M. Lorens aka SWIM JIG
