A friend of mine just bought this 308 and noticed “France” in raised letters on the side plate. Has anyone ever seen the raised letter “France” on any Mitchell Garcia reels?
He thought I might know but I know very little about Mitchell or MitchellGarcia

The early 308s (1st versions) had France on the side.
Later versions had it on the foot.
Later versions had it on the foot.
