I sent a note to Renzo at the Italian antique tackle collectors association ANTIPES to see if he knows what it is. I will advise.

I got a brief response from Italy indicating that the reel is known but Renzo didn't have specifics. He said there would be a post on the Antipes site when they have the info. Everyone is busy with tackle shows at the moment. It is their high season like it is here.

A follow up from Italy that I will paraphrase as follows: Contrary to what you might expect is it not a Zangi. It appears to be a "one hit wonder". The Italian collectors are researching it and intend to post on their Antipes site when they figure it out.
