This guy had some insight into the future. This article excerpt was from a 1891 Thos. Chubb catalog.

Ron, I'll sell you mine if you promise to dress like that whenever you use it. By the way, you probably should use a rod with a shorter butt. The guy in the catalog could have an interesting problem if a large fish hits.

Looks like he has had a few bottles of wine. That could explain a lot.
