While browsing the internet today, I slipped into a rabbit hole and came across this news article from a few months ago..........
Wyoming Game And Fish are now in possession of a live specimen of the once thought extinct Slant Rock Fur Trout That use to swim the lakes and rivers of Northwest Wyoming until 1942. The specimen was caught by angler Bud Plugz in the stream departing Hardpan Lake west of Cody, Wyoming. The Game And Fish says, “This is very promising, since fish do not just have a few babies, they lay 100’s if not 1,000’s of eggs. This means that somewhere out there, we have a thriving population of this once thought extinct fish and that’s very exciting!”. They plan to search the areas lakes and streams to find the population in hopes of managing it and bringing the species back to its former glory.
Has anyone ever seen one of these?
I've heard of bearded clam, but not fur bearing trout.
