Can Anyone Recommend Quality Tools Reel Repair?

Post by Teal »

Hi everyone,

I'm sure this question will illuminate my neophyte status as a reel collector, but in taking apart and cleaning reels of late it occurs to me that what I need more than anything is some high quality jeweler's screwdrivers. What do you ORCAns use when you crack open your reels? Of course the key is to not damage the screws so that is why I am looking to upgrade from the cheap set that I am currently using.

So what do you use and where do you get them?

Cheers,

screw drivers

I use screw driver bits from The Chapman Mfg. Company of Durham Connecticut as do several other people on the board; in fact, that's how I found out about them. They have a website you can find with a Google search. I started with a set which incldes a driver and seveal bits, and have added and replaced bits since then.

I use Lyman gunsmith's screwdrivers and snap-on wrenches and pliars. I do have some Jeweler's screwdrivers too that I use.

Milt sent me to http://micromark.com/ for some pliers and sundries and, though expensive, their tools are top quality.
