langley reel no name or model should be lurecast??

Hi,
Get out your micrometer and take a few measurements. Then, compare dimensions with one of my Langley Lurecast as follows:
Inside spool width: 1.375" (Measure between foot rod clip pillars as this is most accurate.)
Rod Clip Pillars: 0.220" diameter(s).
Back Pillar: 0.190" diameter.
If these measurements match, you probably have a narrow spool unmarked Langley Lurecast.
I don't think I have ever seen an unmarked Lurecast.
Hope this helps.
Dale.

As the ORCA audience at the annual meeting at Columbia Lakes learned this past May, due to the excellent presentation by Colby Sorrells and Nello Armstrong on unusual Langley reels, almost anything is possible when it comes to variations within the various baitcaster models produced by this San Diego CA company. Different colors than normal, different marking (or no markings) and wide spool vs narrow spool on models that should be only one or the other have surfaced over the years, and are a joy to talk about. I put these reels in the "great to have but maybe not the reel that is going to finance retirement" catagory. By the way, two different post in one day on Langley items is great to see, hope we have more in the future and I will try to answer the questions. Alan

Dale (and other Langley nuts), I have as Dale mentions, been writing a few articles for the Reel News that I call "Langley Revolutions". Gary Quick, an ORCAN from New York, did much Langley research some years ago, and he was gratious enough to share it with me so that I could develop it further. Sadly, Gary went foolish at some point in time and started collecting and researching early Penn reels! Maybe a book will come out of my articles, but in the meantime I will be glad to answer what I can on Langley, and I am always interested in hearing from anyone that has info on the company at . Alan
