It was on me Chris, I should have let chemicals work the spool loose....mechanical assitance was not the right answer.

I have been at fault in similar circumstances. Its a sickening feeling when it happens. I know how you feel buddy.

I haven’t done it myself, but that “should” be fixable. It’s been discussed many times and there are established methods both posted here and in the reel repair manual. Not ideal, but hopefully not the end of the world. Check with Dr. Elder or Paul Manuel if you need help!

Thanks guys. I've seen a few posts on fixing in the past, and will search them up when I'm ready to mess with it again.

I would try putting it together with something like Eastman 910 and clamp it together with cable ties around the outside. Just make certain it fits together evenly when you glue it. Allow it to sit overnight before taking the ties off.

The problem I have here is another crack in one of the halves is formed, and can be seen with manipulation. Now I have to either break full and stabilize, or fill crack. I'm honestly wondering if this tailplate is toast

Steve, Its just in purgatory, not hell... will never be perfect but can certainly be a nice one-footer. When sobbing is under control, send along and we shall see what can be done. Take care to maintain those broken edges as they are! Makes for a noce, close fit!

Roger that John. There will be another thing or two to discuss about it, but will PM when ready. I've been meaning to contact you on a new gear for a shakespeare meter reel I have also....guess I'll need to get a bigger shipping box...

I have a strange urge to grind it into filler dust but that's just me.
