Fake? Winchester Mayfair

Check out ebay item 7177020100. They list a Winchester Mayfair which does not have a number on the front. Poor photos, but it looks like a Montague Mayfair that someone has added "Winchester" to. I alerted the seller so it may not stay on ebay long. That is, if they are honest.

Winchester never put a name on their reels. All the definite Winchester reels are listed in my book. As explained in a Reel News article a couple of years ago, there are numbered reels that were assembled by H-I after they bought Winchester's fishing tackle in the early 1930s. Perhaps these can be called Winchester reels for they were assembled from Winchester parts. Winchester reels made by the Winchester Repeating Arms Company all had a number on them and those numbers are listed in my book. If it's not there it was probably an H-I assembled reel (whatever you choose to label them).

Jeremy responded to my email also saying he was pulling the reel and listed the withdrawal reason as the item being fake. Must be an honest guy. He goes under Johnsonstackle.
