Is this thumb rest from Meek or an add on?

Post by Mike N »

Interesting thumb rest on this No. 4 reel which I don’t recall seeing offered in any Meek catalog., Did I miss something or is this an after market add-on?

Mike, not sure that would actually be a thumb rest, a persons thumb would have to be over 6 inches long to be able to reach that in the position it appears to me to be on the reel. Just my opinion and I have no other explanation for it either.
I am looking for any Indiana style reels that I don't already have in my collection. I have all kinds of reels and lures and some cash to trade for the ones I need.

Maybe more of a rest for the side of your left hand, which palmed the tail plate? I would think it was a fisherman's add-on.

It is a thumb rest for the left hand, crank with the right hand. A picture of the tail plate showing how the rest is attached would help. If it is not in any Meek catalog it is probably an add on.
