Shakespeare Sigma Fly Reel Question
I recently acquired a Shakespeare Sigma 96 single action fly reel. It is a nice reel and is very similar to the Medalist as far as appearance and inner workings go and is a little on the large side. Does anyone know if there was ever a Sigma made in a smaller version, closer to the 1494 Medalist in size?

There was a smaller one, same size as the 94. I bought it new in the early 1980’s with my Sigma graphite rod.

There were 5 sizes in the Sigma line when introduced in 1981, 93 through 97.oldsaltnfla wrote:Does anyone know if there was ever a Sigma made in a smaller version, closer to the 1494 Medalist in size?

Let's see if I can get it to post here.

Re: Shakespeare Sigma Fly Reel Question
Jimbofish, thanks for the catalog post. That really explains things. So, I can surmise that the Sigma 96 is the equivalent of the Medalist 1496, the Sigma 94 to the Medalist 1494, and so on. Just don'r seem to see many of the smaller ones. I guess people like to hang onto them.
