Salmonfishing in Norway

Post by Jacob : salmonfisher03 »

Back again from our yearly fishing trip to Norway. Sadly this time we missed my father, he was not able to join us this year, but I hope he will be fit next year again :yay

Like last year we fished (my son, my wife and I) the river Stjördal in Norway.

The small house we rent from the farmers, only a few minutes away from the river.

View of the beat we are fishing.

My wife with her catch  She was only fishing 2 days, before she had to fly back to Denmark and work.

Preparing the barbecue, you get real hungry when you are fishing so many hours 8)

2 generations - father and son

Me relaxing and thinking on how to catch the salmon - and which fly I should use to get the salmon.

And I choose the right fly - 7,1 kg salmon :fished little black tubefly

And my tackle. Singlehand rod with Bogdan reel and doublehand rod with Engelbrekt.

Looking forward to next year and cross my fingers that my father can join again.

Best
Jacob

Jacob,
An amazing place indeed! I spent many years, and many hours in those years, chasing salmon so I know the thrill of those boys! Nothing like having the enjoyment of your family next to you. Really hope your dad shows up next year to show you how it’s done! By the way, what kind of fly did you use on those long pink fish you showed on the grill and did they put up a good fight?
Thanks for the post.
Regards,
Reeltyme

You're a very lucky guy, Jacob. For a number of reasons. Thanks again for transporting us to places we'll likely never see.

Randy,

These are the best sausages they have in Norway.

The fly that I caught the salmon on. The body is 1 cm long.

John,

Yes you have seen my son grow up, I have posted the (3 generation) picture every year since 2013.
He was with me on his first trip in 2008 (5 years old) but he did not fish the first years.

Amazingly beautiful location for fishing and so lucky to be able to share the experience with your son. Memories that will last forever.

Your wife's catch is likely substantially larger than what I would have caught.

Thanks for sharing. Looks like a beautiful place.
