Translation?

Post by el Lawrence »

 :?: :!: :?:
Can someone post a translation? Len and Milt are talkin' like they have been exposed to too many mineral spirits (100% pure ones to be sure but still...) I can't follow any of this exchange at all  and I like to keep up with these things...

Look for more shameless sales soon... I am on my way over to the grocery in just a bit... I am sure the produce department may hold all kinds of marketing possibilities (I DO know advertising/design)...

:P

Imitatory is sort of like Potatoe, if you know what I mean.

Len, if one only imagines a reel imitation, is that imitimagination?

Imitimagination

Post by Len Sawisch »

Imitimagination, now that's funny stuff! I bet even Steve V is thinking "that's funny stuff!"

So OK, here goes: Milt thinks Ebay has stolen our "reel talk" name because I referred to the Ebay area of Reel Talk as Ebay Reel Talk! My bad!

I was trying to alert my peers to the rather ironic parody (is that redundant?) being conducted by a respected member (or at least she WAS a respected member) at the expense of an ebay reel icon (who apparently was so offended that now she (not our she but the ebay she) has left ebay, according to the "seller currently away" message you get when you try to view her past auctions (like to prove to disbelieving friends that there actually are Georgia melons - for size reference only - featured in the auction ads). Anyway, try typing USAREELS with a space between the words and that darn Emoticon with the flag pops up - which of course draws Milt's attention immediately (Bless his Patriotic heart - may it beat for another 30 years!) and this results in confusing Phil, who - bless HIS heart - waits to admit confusion until at least one other member owns up first; which I understand comes from living in Idaho for 40 + years but still occasionally thinking it just might be Iowa - so we're all thankful Andy doesn't visit here much or he'd explain how Idaho USE TO be in Iowa before Hawaii was a state (and we're talkin about a butt-kicked Little League state this year! ).

And if that doesn't clear up the confusion, please follow Jack's lead - he's never confused nor distracted by the fact that he is often confused and distracted - which is probably why he finds such outstanding stuff in such unusual places! Got it?

Len

Milt: Just to set the record straight, I don't count trout. We have counters out here who keep track of all the bass and trout. This photo illustrates one of our counters at work:

Image

Note the egret watching me intently. He keeps count of my fish and records their size in my fishing journal. Incidentally, I caught three bass in that spot. They were all three pounders. [at]#$% - OK egret, they were only 1 pounders. You'll note that with irrigation season winding down the lake is only at 48% of capacity and there is lots of shoreline showing.

Is the potato reference from the old joke about whether to put the potato in the front or back of the shorts?

NO. Potato will be the next prop for scale next to a reel... in homage to that great 'tato growing state of Idaho. To be followed by a set of yams so as any southern states that don't like that type of 'tatos will have equal time. Then a prize set of walnuts as per Milt's request (although southern pecans would be easier to come by... maybe assorted nuts in homage to the folks here on this board...)

ONE problem in all this though is I have NO plastic toys or cheap freebie do dads to include in any of these posts... I have gone through the stacks of reels here and may have one or two to sell still... I will have to see what is in the produce bin and go from there...

If anyone is getting tired of this you can always offer me a good paying job... uh... a real one. Anyone got connections with the Bass Pro shop they are putting in down the road? :)

I always thunk that one was "may der" but yes Harvey, you is correct in that they are both members of the nightshade famblies. So is peanuts if I is not mistook. I hear fresh and hot outa the fryer (and maybe a few shrimps or catfish fillets) they all makes good bait for catchin' a nice mess o' "Harvs"

Hep me! I is startin to writ like Milt! few mo emoticons and I is there!
SEND REEL NEWS... FAST! I needs hep!

(appologies to any international viewers and some yankees that may be missing the fun here altogether... our brains are waterlogged down here in the south by spending too much time in swampy areas and eating exotic southren foods...and maybe by exposure to grits).

I seen some of your HERBS DILLYS, they weigh almost a pound, Lake down on Water? Then where do the big fish go? on vacation? Do you send the fish to school? and at what grade are they allowed to be caught? or caught and released? Does the bird put its beak of aproval on each fish you catch? Now as for the nuts in this area , pecans will do except dont get the oil on the REELS! PLEASE! Now if you would go to Loudenville OHIO you will see a sign that says TATERS AUTO BODY REPAIR! yup its actual shop, been there for over 20 years! Now Col. don't be puttin' all that in one (must be cast iron) skillet...jus wouldn't be good. And no lard in the ham... yes, I CAN cook (this IS the south afterall). Okra... fried is better than stewed; not slimmy. Cut it up, flower and then dredge in cornmeal, let it dry... dredge in GOOD cornmeal, fry in cast iron skillet till crispy. Drain well.

Brian, any of what I am sure is TOP QUALITY HI Produce is always welcome here (well, maybe not mangos... they always taste like soap to me)... Texas doesn't grow much in the way of pineapple or coconuts. Heck, even the coconut sling wouldn't be refused...

Fish inspecting birds... dang! Even the birds can get jobs! and I bet they work for chicken feed too...

I think Richard's reference to "potatoe" was the spelling, as used by a former VP several years ago.
