It looked like this particular forum needed a refresh, so as I am a new member, here it goes. I recently retired and took up fishing again after a lacunae of about 40 years. Since I'm also an antique dealer and collect many things, it seemed only natural to gravitate toward the old tackle. I live in the central Maryland mountains and am lucky enough to have a wide variety of fishing places within easy driving distance. I primarily spin fish, but I'm also learning the intricacies of fly fishing. I much prefer to use the old tackle rather than the new. My favorite outfit currently is a vintage Heddon split bamboo spinning rod and a 1950s Luxor reel.
If you look at the two attached photos of my collection shelves you can probably tell that I'm interested in the following, among other things:
- Early spinning reels, including the Mitchel round bodies
- Bait containers
- All Airex tackle
- Antique casting weights
- Odd looking reels
- Cool looking vintage bait casters
- Fishing store displays
I'm looking forward to participating in the forum and learning a lot.
Kevin
